Psychology for Actors -- Fall 2018

Also coming soon from Routledge Press, Psychology for Actors is the first book-length compendium of psychological theories expressed in a language that actors can understand and use in their work preparing a role.

Most actors agree that an understanding of basic psychology is critical to their craft, yet very few are actually formally trained in psychology basics. This book by classically trained actor and author, Kevin Page, will explain the various schools of psychology that have been developed over the last 120 years and how they can be applied to the actor's craft.

About Kevin Page

Kevin Page is an American writer/actor/director, entrepreneur, and psychologist who has three books currently upcoming: Advanced Consciousness Training for Actors (Routledge, 2018), Psychology for Actors (Routledge, 2018), and The Fourth Force: A Biography of Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychologies (SUNY Press, 2018). His article, The Genius of Meditation was published in the June 2017 edition of Mensa Bulletin, a publication of American Mensa with 55,000 monthly subscribers. He holds a Master’s degree in psychology and has done more than a decade of research on the application of meditation practice and consciousness training to the actor’s craft. 

As an actor, Mr. Page holds a B.A. in theatre from the University of Nebraska and trained in the MFA program at the prestigious Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, a founding member of the League of Professional Training Programs, before launching a career as a professional stage and screen actor. A former member of Actors Equity Association (honorable withdrawal), he has appeared in multiple regional theatres across the Midwest, from Minnesota to Texas. In addition to his work as an author and performer, Mr. Page holds three U.S. patents on a technology he co-invented that utilizes robotics to create original pointillist-style oil paintings. He is also an entrepreneur and has founded three successful start-up companies.
